Maxime Lizotte: a chef rooted in tradition and looking to the future
Hailing from the Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk First Nation , Chef Maxime Lizotte embodies a new generation of chefs who combine Indigenous knowledge and contemporary gastronomy . A graduate of the École hôtelière de la Capitale and with a background in several renowned establishments in Quebec City, he has established himself as a true culinary ambassador of the First Peoples .
His cuisine is local, respectful of nature, and deeply inspired by tradition. He highlights forest ingredients, wild plants, and ancestral techniques like fermentation, while creating innovative and accessible dishes.

This year, we are proud to be represented at the KWE! Meeting Indigenous Peoples festival , thanks to the talent of chef Maxime Lizotte , who will be preparing delicious potatoes seasoned with our Traditional Warrior Spice Blend .
The KWE! festival will be held from June 13 to 15, 2025 , at Place Jean-Béliveau in Quebec City , with a special evening on June 21 , on the occasion of National Indigenous Peoples Day .
What is the KWE! Festival?
KWE! is a free, family-friendly event open to all , which aims to introduce you to the culture, history and contemporary traditions of the 11 Indigenous nations of Quebec . It is a unique event , at the crossroads of encounter, celebration and transmission .
