Yarrow is a plant used for its medicinal properties by the indigenous people of North America. There are several species of yarrow, but yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is one of the most commonly used species. The leaves, stems and flowers of this plant are used to treat various ailments, including headaches, menstrual pain and cuts.

It is also used in the cuisine of certain boreal regions to flavor dishes. It has a fairly strong taste like thyme or rosemary. It can be dried or fresh and used as a seasoning for meats, vegetables or sauced dishes.
